Overview
In this section you will discover how the Safer Access Cycle and Framework and the application of the Fundamental Principles combine and reinforce each other to create a solid approach to increasing National Societies’ acceptance, security and access to people and communities in need in sensitive and insecure contexts, including armed conflict and internal disturbances and tensions.
Practical toolbox
Here you will find guidance on implementing each of the eight elements of the Safer Access Framework, along with action checklists, guiding questions, examples and links to tools and templates.
You can access these in relation to each of the Safer Access Framework elements from the menu on the top of the home page by clicking on “Practical toolbox”. Also on the home page, under the featured video, you can click on the button entitled “Safer Access: A practical toolbox”.
Further material will continue to be added to this toolbox. For this we rely on your input, so please send us any guidelines, training material or other tools that your National Society has developed to help its governance, staff and volunteers take the necessary actions and measures to improve acceptance, security and access to people and communities in need. You can do this by attaching the document or video using the email function under “Contact us”.
Safer Access in action
Through this interactive map, National Societies share their real-life Safer Access experiences. Just click on the National Society or region that interests you to read more. You are also invited to contribute the experience of your own National Society. Use the outline provided above the map to guide you in its creation and send your first draft to us via email using the “Contact us” button at the bottom of the home page.
Publications
Under “Publications” at the bottom of the home page, you will find a “See more” link which will lead you to all Safer Access publications and resources in the various available language versions, with information on how to download or order the materials. The two main publications can also be downloaded directly from the home page; just click on “Safer Access: A Guide and Introduction”.
Newsletter
A newsletter will be published quarterly, or when there is an exciting addition to the website or experience to share. Send us your news! Have you had a recent experience related to Safer Access that you would like to share with others? If so, let us know and we will guide you through the process of getting it up on the site.
Contact us
At the bottom of the home page and on all subsequent pages, you will find a button to click on if you wish to contact us. You can also use it to send us a tool, template or experience of your own that you would like to share with other National Societies, by attaching the relevant document(s) to your email. If you experience problems accessing FedNet, which hosts all the tools, you can request a tool by this means as well.
